This is our muse we developed, using this as our character for our designs.
In our second screen printing session we deconstructed an old garment to print onto, looking at placement and how print would work in terms of a garment. Then in the Friday session we started using the fabrics we printed in our own time and the pattern pieces that we worked on and we started putting them together on the manikin, looking at manipulation and re-construction. I think this was helpful for us because it gave us a chance to explore, and I think it is primarily because of this session that we plan to develop this idea. Using this technique of draping fabrics on a manikin.
Through the holidays I have been looking at artist and designers that inspire me, adding them to our group pinterest board, so that the other girls in our group can see what I've found, the girls have also been doing the same too. These were some of the inspiration we all found.

Also this week we had a peer review session. I particularly found this helpful on the personal reflection side, where we had to choose a strength, weakness, opportunity and a threat - something we were in danger of making a mistake with. (SWOT analysis). Within our group we decided that out strengths at this point were - the consistent theme of erosion, looking at texture, and the contrasting bright and dull colours. Our weakness is that we have no current direction for an outcome. We feel like opportunities we could take include, using printing foils, and maybe exaggerating the colours to make more or an obvious contrast. And finally we identified our biggest threat as our outcome - and the need for it to be original, because 'fairgrounds' is so easily a theme that can be mass reproduced within different projects, as most of the image work is very similar.
The feedback we got off our peers seemed to fit a similar path, with weaknesses covering the lack of ideas to move forward, also suggesting we do more drawing to push or visual research. Strengths indicated a strong colour palette and good initial print samples. Getting peer feedback helped because it give us confidence in what we identified as strengths and reassured us about areas we thought to improve.
