Whilst developing and creating samples I found myself
fascinated by the new thermochromic dyes I was using, I was constantly taking
pictures of my work because it would always change, even when using the heater
to dry my work in the print room, it would be changing and disappearing, I kept
realising that I had been distracted and fascinated by my own work.
After the success of my first samples, I knew I needed to do
several things. Firstly I need to decide on a solid colour palette. As one of
the feedback points from my tutorial was that whilst my initial colours worked
well, it seemed as though it was missing something. So I knew I needed to
revisit my colour palette and add something more. The second thing I needed to
consider was allowing myself enough time to print, the print room was fairly
busy and heavily booked, so I took the opportunity to book in for two days for
two weeks (which was the maximum allowance due to the high demand) in order to
give my self-reassurance that I would have the time to do what I aimed to do. The
third and final thing to do was to plan. I needed to plan my time and plan what
I wanted to do.
My intention for my final outcome is to hopefully produce a
range of samples to show the different colours and prints which would be
available for my designs, and also to create 1 or more prototypes to have on
display at the exhibition, to demonstrate my intentions and bring the idea to
life. To help me with deciding upon the best design for my prototypes I have
been looking a lot at many designers and blogs, based on people who create
their own clutch bags to sell. Whilst looking at blogs and Etsy accounts I thought
it would be a good idea to look at one of the tutors Rihanna Phillips work.
After looking at many designers work I decided that because
of the busy patterns through-out my prints, it would be best to keep the design
of the bags simple. I am hoping to create 2 bags, one as a simple rectangle
clutch with a zip and the second as a rectangle fold over clutch with a zip,
hopefully demonstrating the possibilities for my Thermo-clutches.
